I’ve been studying about the power of thoughts for quite some time now (in fact quite a long time). But when I start talking about it one more time to my participants in NLP programme or Thought Process Re-engineering program (TPR), I feel afresh all over again.
Thoughts are like minute drops that make a mighty ocean, i.e., the life itself. Thoughts are like small seeds, which create fruits in and for the future (mind you: good seeds give good fruits and bad seeds give you-know-what). Illustrations for explaining the power of thoughts have only sky as the limit.
In this space, let us try examining together of how defining thoughts can decide destiny.
Before reading on, answer this simple question: “After your death, which way you wanted to get remembered?”
Have you answered???
I’m sure your answer has a lot of adjectives fixed to it. For instance – a great man, an awesome girl, a talented lady, great friend etc. Considering the question, let’s analyze these adjectives. For example, if you want people to remember you as “a great soul”, then greatness is a quality that you’re looking as a result of your life. Hence your destiny is GREATNESS.
This is just an example of how “thinking” can make you find your future. The good news is that we can be the master of thoughts, we can decide the shape and intensity of conditions, we can make and shape our environment, life and of course, destiny.
Following are five tips to define your thoughts which will aid you in deciding your destiny.
1. Believe in yourself: Nothing can be more fruitful than this. Self-belief is a must before you define your thoughts. Believe that the entire universe is waiting to help you achieve your desired and deserving goal. Believe that you are the maker of your destiny.
2. Understand Yourself: Take a stock of what you do on a daily basis. Think of the thought processes that flow in your mind during work, interactions etc. If you’re sitting alone, do not take those thoughts for granted. In fact, they are the most important thoughts to capture. Understand the person in you.
3. Assess and Accept Yourself: Assessment of the thoughts compared to set standards, is essential. Standards are those which you think is ideal, i.e., your super-ego state. After assessment, do not get discouraged that you have flaws, for there will be NO man in a usual world who will find zero-flaws in his mental system. Accept the flaws.
4.Plan and Practice Yours elf: Planning involves, inner-questioning. The expectations that you have from yourself. This exercise, what I call “Thought process Re-engineering”, involves Practice. Continuous reinforcement of positive thoughts is a must here.
5. Sustain Yourself: Always be conscious of the thoughts. Sustain the practice.
These five tips will shape your thought process. I wish you, all confidence and courage to strongly define your thoughts which will ultimately lead you to a destiny of strength.
