Guru is higher than God
January 15 was one of the most blessed daysin my life. Kedaram, my house, was blessed to witness a historical moment; where a fourth generation child in a Musical Family received the blessings from the Maha Guru of Carnatic Music Shri Dakshinamurthy Swamy. My family and Kedaram are always blessed with the presence of Dakshinamurthy Swamy, the Maha Guru of Carnatic Music, as he always stays with us whenever he comes to Kerala. For us Swamy and Amma are like our family members and for them Kedaram is like their own house.
On 15th the Musical Wizard of Indian Cinema Padmasree KJ Yesudas (we call Dasettan), his son Vijay Yesudas and Vijay’s daughter Ameya came to meet Swamy to get his blessings. When Dasettan touched Swamy’s feet and when he showed hesitation in sitting along with Swamy, I was finding the reason for Dasetten’s success in Music world; nothing but Guru Bhakthi (devotion to his teacher). Vijay also touched Swamy’s feet and stood there like the most obedient student. The most interesting part was seeing all this, 2 year old Ameya, Vijay’s daughter also sought Swamy’s blessings by touching his feet without anyone telling her. There were many things to learn from this incident:
The more you go higher in life, the more you should be humble. Only if your humility grows with success, then only success will stay with you
The most important blessing one needs to have is from his/her Guru. This is more important than the blessings from the Almighty
More than fear, it should be ‘Bhakthi’ (devotion) to the Guru
Children do what you do, not what you tell. They will respect you if they see you giving respect to others.
The positive energy from the good thoughts about you in your Guru’s mind can nullify all the negative energies from all bad thoughts others may have against you
